About This Blog

I’m in the songs that you still love singing.

I’m in your daughters hair and the fire in her eyes.

I’m in the wind that blows through the hollers,

And the Bible that I left by your bedside.

The lyrics above are from Larry Cordle’s song, Gone on Before.  I heard the song for the first time when I heard my dad playing it shortly after my nanny’s–his mother’s–passing in March 2014.  I thought these lyrics very fitting when it comes to introducing this blog.  This site is dedicated to preserving the lives of those Burrells who have gone on before, but are still with us in our memories, our genes, and our beings, all of who have played a part in making us who we are today.
